SpatialGridBuilder is a freely available, open source software package allowing social scientists to perform spatial data analysis.
You start by defining the bit of the world you are interested in. Then, you can import your own data, such as point data or shapefiles. Alternatively, you can use the pre-loaded data, such as ACLED/ UCDP conflict data, distance, mountainous/ rugged terrain, infrastructure, night lights, rainfall, infant mortality or tree cover. SpatialGridBuilder will help you to visualise these data, and export the data so that you can analyse them using whichever statistical software you prefer.
SpatialGridBuilder can be downloaded from sourceforge.
